Golf Origin

While the modern game of golf originated in 15th century Scotland, the game's ancient origins are unclear and much debated. Some historians trace the sport back to the Roman game of paganica, in which participants used a bent stick to hit a stuffed leather ball. One theory asserts that paganica spread throughout Europe as the Romans conquered most of the continent, during the first century BC, and eventually evolved into the modern game. Others cite chuiwan ("chui" means striking and "wan" means small ball) as the progenitor, a Chinese game played between the eighth and 14th centuries. A Ming Dynasty scroll dating back to 1368 entitled "The Autumn Banquet" shows a member of the Chinese Imperial court swinging what appears to be a golf club at a small ball with the aim of sinking it into a hole. The game is thought to have been introduced into Europe during the Middle Ages. Another early game that resembled modern golf was known as cambuca in England and chambot in France. This game was, in turn, exported to the Low Countries, Germany, and England (where it was called pall-mall, pronounced “pell mell”). Some observers, however, believe that golf descended from the Persian game, chaugán. In addition, kolven (a game involving a ball and curved bats) was played annually in Loenen, Netherlands, beginning in 1297, to commemorate the capture of the assassin of Floris V, a year earlier.
The modern game originated in Scotland, where the first written record of golf is James II's banning of the game in 1457, as an unwelcome distraction to learning archery. To many golfers, the Old Course at St Andrews, a links course dating to before 1574, is considered to be a site of pilgrimage. Golf is documented as being played on Musselburgh Links, East Lothian, Scotland as early as 2 March 1672, which is certified as the oldest golf course in the world by Guinness World Records. The oldest surviving rules of golf were compiled in March 1744 for the Company of Gentlemen Golfers, later renamed The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, which was played at Leith, Scotland. The world's oldest golf tournament in existence, and golf's first major, is The Open Championship, which was first played on 17 October 1860 at Prestwick Golf Club, in Ayrshire, Scotland.

You Must Believe That Playing Golf Is Simple

If you have not tried it then believe me when I say that golf is one of the most rewarding and pleasurable sports you could possibly choose. You get to unwind and play in the company of friends while relishing the sunshine and marveling at Mother Nature in all her glory.
There is one problem. Although golf may look easy, as any veteran player knows, it is not as easy as it looks and most novices take a long time to come to grips with even the basics of the game.
In spite of the fact that golf is quite correctly classed as being a sport it is quite different from most of the other sports which we ordinarily all watch or play. Consider, for example, a sport such as football. Here the game is for the most part physical in nature and your function as a player is very much to respond to whatever is going on around you, frequently with significant physical effort. Naturally there is some mental activity involved in a game of football, but the main focus of your attention is really on using your physical skill and strength.
However, golf is one game in which, although you are competing against other people, you are in addition competing against yourself and, most importantly, it is a game where you are in total control of the action. You set your ball up on the tee but after that nothing is going to happen until you make it happen. In this instance you are not responding to what is happening around you but are making all of the play yourself.
This is a very great difference as it means that the game of golf requires a degree of focus and level of concentration as you control everything in your game which is something that you do not find in other sports.
Golf is a difficult game to master because as well as getting to grips with the physical aspects of the game like the mechanics of the golf swing, you also have to learn how to produce the state of relaxed concentration needed to control that swing in just the correct fashion to achieve the shot you require.
It is this ability to master not only the physical but also the mental aspects of the game that dictates exactly how good a golfer you will be.

Golf Passion

If you have a passion for golf, your enthusiasm for the sport does not end when you drop the ball in the 18th hole. You think golf, you talk golf, and you dream golf. When you are away from the course, you can't wait to get back. When you are there, you never want to leave.
Of course, no one can stay on the golf course forever, so why not start a collection to remind you of the pleasures of the fairway? Just like some people collect stamps or coins or china cups, you can collect objects about the game of golf. Collecting golf art and memorabilia is a great way to focus on the positive and keep your pleasure in the forefront when you are away from the game.
Golfers have access to a wide range of golf collectibles through online specialty retailers. What exactly are golf collectibles? Basically, they are any type of decorative item with a golf theme. A series of framed pictures of American, Scottish, and British golf courses is a popular collector's item. Another great series is of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Tom Watson as they each say farewell to the British Open. Speaking of these legends, what could be greater than a framed photograph of Palmer and Nicklaus on tee as the honorary starters of the 2010 Masters?
A framed collection of Masters' pins is a timeless reminder of the great tournaments. You can find historical photos from the early days of golf, knickers and all. In addition to photos of golf legends, there are autographed photos of current golf stars such as Annika Sorenstam, Tiger Woods, and Phil Mikelson. What better inspiration than to see your favorite golfers hanging on your wall reminding you of your game? Just so you don't take your game too seriously, you might want to hang the classic photo of Jackie Gleason golfing.
Golf art makes great tournament awards in place of or in addition to trophies. The winner would surely appreciate four official Masters scorecards signed by Grand Slam champions Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, and Jack Nicklaus arranged in an attractive frame. And for second place, a Payne Stewart photo collage from the 1991 U.S. Open.
The same items make great personal and corporate gifts. Use them for auctions or fundraisers for your club or a charitable organization. For company tournaments a variety of photos can be framed identically, each with a personalized tournament plaque. If your co-worker didn't make it to the 2010 Masters, a daily ticket display might be a good pick-me-up. When you are tired of giving golf balls and golf caps as gifts to your golf buddies, give something different-a golf collectible.
Anything you can think of related to the game of golf, you can find as a golf collectible. And if you or someone you know needs a little help with their game, there's always a framed photo of the Golfer's Prayer at St. Salvadore's Cathedral in St. Andrew's Scotland.

Who Is the Best

We always care about who is the best among our life. You know, who is the best in one kind of sport you like, or who is the best in earning money to be top of Forbes. And when playing golf, of course we also want to know who is the best name brand to provide golf clubs. Today, let us check out who is the best to produce irons.
Look at the advertisement, so many companies claim to have the “best” brand name golf irons, but who is really producing the best golf irons? According to several players, golf professionals, and tour champion players, Callaway makes the best irons on the market. Originally discovered in the wine country region of California, Callaway became the epitome of luxury and style with its various products. In today’s market Callaway irons can be found across the country in a number of major retail chains as well as local pro-shops and clubhouses and have become noted as some of the best golf irons. Professionals currently touring and using Callaway irons include Master’s winners Trevor Immelman, Phil Mickelson, and Gary Player as well as Annika Sorenstam and Morgan Pressel of the LPGA.
Callaway uses the highest quality and performing materials available. The testing facility at Callaway also is known for researching a club until it literally breaks from so much wear. Ultimately, the research and testing pays off with some of the finest products on the market including the Best Golf Irons. Finding some of the best irons does not have to come with a cost: discounts are available at large retail outlets or through online sources. Custom fittings are also offered by Callaway, which is yet another service that sets them apart from the rest.
Now, how might one come across a used set of the Best Golf Irons. Well as one of the more popular brands of apparel available, the problem is not finding a set, but rather affording them. Retailing for approximately $700 USD, the Diablo Forged Iron collection offers the best in technology, comfort, and other important aspects that golf equipment need to have. As the most strategic and important clubs, Callaway has and continues to be committed to excellence in its short and long range iron collections.
As one of the best lines of irons, the Diablo Forged Irons is not only favored by those on tour, but also club champions, ranked NCAA golfers, and the average player too. Diablo Forged Irons incorporate some of the best science for the price and are bound to improve any golfer’s performance out on the course. Some of the intended features of the Diablo Forged Iron series is a lightweight shaft for a faster swing, a smooth club head for perfect club-ground-ball contact, and a unique and custom-feeling grip that is both comfortable and functional when swinging one hundred percent or just ten percent. Benefits of the Diablo series include adding a profound distance onto every stroke, an industry comparable loft, and the rounded ‘blade’ for a more forgiving swing.
Ok, do you find the answer now?
